Intel RealSense™ Depth Camera D400 Series

Intel® RealSense™ Depth Camera D400 Series is designed to equip devices with the ability to see, understand, interact with, and learn from the environment. The D400 Series includes ready-to-use cameras that can be easily added to your existing prototypes via USB, Depth Modules that can be integrated directly into product designs, Vision Processors and Vision Processor Cards to process the raw data from the RealSense™ Cameras, and Intel® RealSense™ Software Development Kit (SDK), an open-source, cross-platform Development Suite including libraries, wrappers, sample code, and tools.

RealSense™ Depth Cameras use stereo vision to calculate depth. The stereo vision implementation consists of a left imager, a right imager, and an optional infrared projector. The infrared projector projects a non-visible static IR pattern to improve depth accuracy in scenes with low texture. The left and right imagers capture the scene and send raw image data to the Vision Processor, which calculates depth values for each pixel in the image by correlating points on the left image to the right image, and via shift between a point on the Left image and the Right image. The depth pixel values are processed to generate a depth frame. Subsequent depth frames create a depth video stream.

Depth Camera D415 and D435

Intel RealSense™ Depth Camera D400 Series

Intel® RealSense™ Depth Camera D415 and D435 combine the Intel D4 Vision Processor and Depth Module in a small, powerful, low-cost, ready-to-deploy package. Perfect for developers, makers, and innovators applying depth-sensing to a device, Intel® RealSense™ D400 Series Cameras are designed for easy setup and portability. These cameras capture indoor or outdoor environments, feature long-range capabilities, and high depth resolution, up to 1280px x 720px at 30fps (frames per second).

The Intel® RealSense Depth Camera D415 features a rolling shutter and a standard field of view, offering a general-purpose solution for adding depth stream data to an existing system. The Intel® RealSense Depth Camera D435 features a global shutter and a wider field of view, ideal for capturing depth in fast-moving VR or robotics applications.

D435i Camera

Intel® RealSense™ Depth Camera D435i combines the robust depth-sensing capabilities of the D435 with the addition of an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU).  This IMU allows refining the depth awareness in any situation where the camera moves. The D435i camera opens the door for rudimentary SLAM and tracking applications, better point-cloud alignment, or improved environmental awareness. This camera makes registration and calibration easier for a handheld scanning system and is also useful in virtual/augmented reality fields and drones.

D4 Vision Processor

Intel RealSense™ Depth Camera D400 Series

Intel® RealSense™ D4 Vision Processor is a high-performance ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) designed to handle the workload from D400 Series Stereo Cameras. When paired with a RealSense™ Depth Module, the D4 VPU is able to output depth and full HD RGB data without requiring a dedicated GPU or host processor. The small size and BGA package make it ideal for developers to design in the ASIC onto system boards and daughter cards for maximum customization. This VPU is also available pre-mounted on a compact circuit board, offering a turn-key solution for integrators looking for a quick and easy way to include RealSense D400-series components in their products.

D400 Series Depth Modules

Intel RealSense™ Depth Camera D400 Series

Intel® RealSense D400 Series Depth Modules provide a turnkey solution for rapid product development and integration for VR, robotics, and any market where depth matters. RealSense D400 Series Depth Modules are designed for easy integration into larger systems and can capture indoor or outdoor environments with long-range capabilities, high depth resolution, and infrared (IR) stereo. Options include standard or wide field of view, rolling or global shutter technology, and passive or active IR depth sensing. The depth data output can then be processed by a RealSense Vision Processor. The RealSense D400 Series Depth Modules can be connected to the D4 Vision Processor Card via the D400 Interposer (82635DSITR50P).
