Electric Vehicle Solutions

The rise of electric vehicles brings with it the need for downsized components that remain robust and effective. TDK provides a wide variety of electronic components well-suited to meet demands of the harsh environments of automotive applications. Products such as inductors, common-mode chokes, ferrite beads, MLCCs, and more are designed with specialized materials and unique structures to offer high performance and reliability under even the most severe usage conditions.

Automotive EMI Suppression

TDK offers several series of AEC-Q200-compliant chip beads for Automotive EMI Suppression in both signal and power line applications. The lineup of MMZ and MPZ series chip beads includes miniaturized products measuring just 0.4mm x 0.2mm, Gigaspira-structured products that provide high impedance at GHz bands, products that are compatible with high currents in power lines, and beads with a terminal electrode design that improves the bonding strength with solder and supports +150°C environments. KMZ and KPZ series soft termination chip beads are also available, offering effective protection against board flexure and solder cracks, even under harsh conditions and high operating temperatures of up to +150°C.

MMZ Automotive Chip Beads

TDK MMZ Automotive Chip Beads are a noise reduction solution for general signal lines with AEC-Q200 qualification. These chip beads offer effective noise suppression over a wide frequency in a single miniaturized component. TDK offers several material types to provide a range of frequency characteristics in a variety of case sizes, each suited to different applications. TDK MMZ Automotive Chip Beads are ideal for ECUs, powertrains, body controls, and car multimedia (telematics).

Electric Vehicle - Safety

TDK Electric Vehicle Safety products include MLCCs, inductors, EMC components, and sensor systems designed to meet rigorous requirements for quality and long-term performance. With strict standards for safety-critical applications such as ADAS, airbag, EPS, ABS, TPMS (among others), automotive manufacturers rely heavily on the high-performance and stability of the electronic components used in these systems. 

Electric Vehicle - E-Mobility

E-mobility, or the development of electrically-powered drivetrains for use in cars and other motorized vehicles, places an increased demand on the electronic components, modules, and systems used in these types of vehicles. TDK offers power magnetics, circuit protection devices, MLCCs, and more designed for use in e-mobility applications such as battery and battery loading, BMS, inverters, and on-board chargers.

Electric Vehicle - Driving/Comfort

When choosing a new vehicle, many consumers look not only at safety-related features, but also at the comfort and convenience the vehicle provides. TDK offers a wide array of products such as power magnetics, ferrite beads, chip varistors, and MLCCs. TDK Electric Vehicle Driving and Comfort products are designed with special materials and features for use in applications such as automatic heating and cooling, automatic seat and mirror adjustments, among others, designed to provide more comfort for riders.

Electric Vehicle - Network

With the aim of improving things like safe driving, lowering the environmental burden, and increasing passenger comfort, vehicles increasingly need a high-speed in-vehicle LAN that connect multiple ECUs (electronic control units) together. The number of sensors and camera equipment necessary to meet the demand of added functionality has contributed to weight increases in the wiring harnesses and increased EMI. TDK offers a number of electronic components such as common mode filters, chip varistors, MLCC arrays, and "soft termination" MLCCs, designed to conserve space in ECU circuit boards, provide effective countermeasures against EMI, and maintain a high level of performance even in the harshest automotive environments.
